Definition Control over behavior or control over emotions in service
for control over behavior.
- Aspects
- Resisting temptations and not acting impulsively.
- Having the discipline to stay on task despite distractions/temptations to give up/leisure/more interesting tasks. Which is related to the final aspect of self-control:
- Delaying gratification.
- Usually in the form of competition between the desire to do x and to do y, but it’s not necessary. e.g., not to blurt out the first response.
