macOS
- HDR is no longer supported for certain combinations of HiDPI and refresh rate.
For example, HDR is not available for 2K HiDPI with 120Hz on a 4K monitor.
- Reducing the refresh rate or resolution may work. e.g. reducing refresh rate to 100Hz, or the resolution to 2432 * 1368.
- Certain HDMI 2.1 adapters that support 4K@>=120Hz can solve this problem with more bandwidth.
- See macOS 14.1 - No more HDR on 4K monitors and DP/USB-C/Thunderbolt to HDMI 2.1 4k@120hz RGB4:4:4 10b HDR with Apple Silicon M1-M4 now possible !

xquartzforX11Forwardingwith SSH. Need to also enable “Allow connections from network clients” in XQuartz. - macOS has a notoriously low max file descriptors value. Raise this limit with
sudo launchctl limit maxfiles <soft-limit> <hard-limit>
